YouthAIDS celebrated the success of 2003 YouthAIDS Benefit Gala on October 27 at New York City's Capitale by raising funds and spreading awareness to halt the spread of HIV/AIDS among the world's youth. Those celebrating included host Ashley Judd, emcee Blair Underwood (Sex in the City), special musical performances by Grammy Award-winner Wynonna Judd and Recording Artist Jin were highlights of the evening. Hip-hop producer Timbaland made a special announcement at the start of the evening by proclaiming that "We are the World" would be re-recorded as a special fundraiser for YouthAIDS. VH1 will exclusively cover the recording and many top artists are scheduled to participate in the project.

At a silent auction prior to the gala, a signed guitar donated by Wynonna went for over $6000! Naomi was also in attendance to show support for both of her daughters. The YouthAIDS Gala also highlighted individuals and corporations who have made a significant impact in the fight against HIV/AIDS. YouthAIDS presented Corporate Citizenship Awards to The Coca-Cola Company and Alexander B. Cummings, President of The Coca-Cola Company's African Foundation, and to Kiehl's and Edgar Huber, President, L'Oreal Luxury Products Division. Pioneer Achievement Awards were presented to The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and Kate Carr, President & CEO of the Foundation and to Independent Documentary Filmmaker Rory Kennedy.

Tonight is the night of the 2nd Annual YouthAIDS Dinner Gala in New York City. The event will be hosted by Ashley Judd. The dinner will gather celebrities, entertainers and YouthAIDS corporate partners to fundraise for PSI programs and celebrate the YouthAIDS initiative. ...WHAT'S A STAR to do when she needs shoes in which to play one of the greatest women's roles ever - Maggie the Cat in Tennessee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." Ashley turned to shoe guy Manolo Blahnik.

Manolo recently cited the stylish '50s film that starred Elizabeth Taylor. This inspired him to build a custom pair for Judd, who now struts the Music Box stage as she spars with Jason Patric as Brick and Ned Beatty as Big Daddy. It opens Sunday.

Today I slightly rearranged the gallery categories. I have added 2 new photos. It is actually a scan of the front and back of a New Yorker advertisement for the Broadway run of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. New layout! The pink was getting a little overwhelming for me. I don't know about you... Anyways, blue is always so calming, I like it. There is also a new wallpaper :]

Although still in previews, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is already listed a one of Broadway's current best sellers according to Broadway.com. Closing date for the production is has been listed as February 22, 2004.

YouthAIDS and Ashley Judd host the second annual Benefit Gala to Stop the Spread of HIV/AIDS among Youth with an October 27 celebrity dinner in New York.

YouthAIDS and Population Services International announced today the 2003 YouthAIDS Benefit Gala, where young adults, celebrities, politicians, corporate leaders and others will come together on October 27 at New York City's Capitale to raise funds and awareness to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS among the world's youth. Those celebrating include host and actress Ashley Judd, emcee Blair Underwood, special honorees and presenters Amelia Vega, Miss Universe 2003, Congressman Patrick Kennedy and Ambassador Richard Holbrooke. Special musical performances by Grammy Award-winner Wynonna Judd and Ruff Ryders Recording Artist Jin will entertain guests throughout the gala. Hip-hop producer Timbaland will make a special announcement at the start of the evening.

Ashley Judd, the evening's host, is also the YouthAIDS Global Ambassador. By speaking about the HIV/AIDS issue in Hollywood and around the world, Ashley's efforts raise awareness and funding for the YouthAIDS initiative.

According to IMDB, 'Twisted' is the newly released title of the movie project formerly named 'The Blackout Murders' and prior to that the film was titled 'Blackout'. Today -- Cat on a Hot Tin Roof will begin in previews. Ashley Judd will don the theatre's most famous slip as she bares Maggie the Cat's claws in Broadway's Music Box Theatre.

The production the fourth version of Tennessee Williams 1955 play of greed, lust and mendacity to grace Broadway also stars Jason Patric as Maggie's indifferent, drunkard husband Brick; Ned Beatty as Brick's blunt, blustery bully of a father, Big Daddy; Margo Martindale as the cowed, but loving Big Mama; Michael Mastro as Brick's neglected brother, Gooper; and Amy Hohn as Gooper's baby-making, grasping wife Mae.

Official opening is Nov. 2. The production is directed by Anthony Page. Bill Kenwright produces the limited engagement.
