A couple of pictures were added to the gallery yesterday. Pictures from the October issue of InStyle are coming soon, honest. Let me just say that I do suggest that you go purchase a copy of the magazine for yourself. I know purchasing a magazine for a couple pics is sometimes lame, but these are quite lovely and full size. You will not be sorry. Ashley's photos are beautiful. I swear, you will want to frame them for your wall!

American Beauty and Ashley Judd Announce NutritionAid
New Charitable Program Addresses Teen Obesity and Nutrition

Actress Ashley Judd and American Beauty, a new cosmetics and skincare brand, unveil NutritionAid, a national campaign dedicated to promoting healthy eating and physical activity and providing vital educational programs for children in the United States. It is estimated that nine million children aged 6 to 15 are obese, and 60% of these suffer from cardiovascular disease, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"NutritionAid is coming at a very critical time for this country. In America today, there are three times as many overweight adolescents as there were just 20 years ago," said Ashley Judd, spokesperson for American Beauty. "It's time to intervene and educate kids about healthy eating and exercise, and I'm so pleased that NutritionAid is taking this first very important step."

The goals of NutritionAid are to encourage healthy eating and exercise in schools and after-school settings, provide children with the necessary communication tools to raise awareness, and build the capacity of adolescents to become peer educators. The initiative will launch specifically in under-served areas in Oregon and California in 2004, with plans to expand nationally in 2005-2006.

"Proper education is crucial in curbing this growing issue, and so we look forward to supporting NutritionAid and their motivational and life-changing programs," said Jane Hudis, General Manager, BeautyBank. "American Beauty is proud to be the founder of NutritionAid and to associate our gracious spokesperson, Ashley Judd, with this important cause."

In celebration of the NutritionAid initiative, American Beauty has created a specially designed lip palette, featuring two lip shades that will be available for $14.50 (suggested retail price) at Kohl's. All American Beauty products will debut in October at select Kohl's stores nationwide and on http://www.americanbeautycosmetics.com.

NutritionAid, a growing global initiative that generates funding and awareness for issues affecting women and children, is a joint venture between American Beauty and Population Services International (PSI), a nonprofit organization that uses social marketing to improve health in nutrition, HIV/AIDS, malaria, safe water and family planning around the world.

ASHLEY JUDD HOSTS THE 2004 YOUTHAIDS BENEFIT GALA TO RAISE HIV/AIDS AWARNESS AND RESOURCES--

Leading celebrities, corporate leaders, musicians, and health professionals will come together at New York City's Capitale grand ballroom for the 2004 YouthAIDS Benefit Gala on tonight to raise funding and awareness to fight HIV/AIDS among youth in developing countries.

This evening, YouthAIDS which is an action-based global initiative working to educate and protect youth from HIV/AIDS, will recognize individuals and corporations who have made significant strides in the fight against HIV/AIDS. YouthAIDS is proud to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of Carlos and Deborah Santana, John Demsey of the M·A·C AIDS FUND, and Charles Goldstuck of BMG North America. As additional highlights of the Gala, BMG music artist Dido, five-time Grammy Award-winner Wynonna Judd, and legendary and soulful singer Patti LaBelle will each provide special musical performances.

“It is our honor to recognize the dedication and leadership of these individuals,” said Ashley Judd, YouthAIDS Global Ambassador and Host of the YouthAIDS Gala. “With 12 million young people living with HIV/AIDS, the work they are doing is desperately needed and they are setting important examples of innovative corporate and social response to saving our future generations from the HIV/AIDS emergency.”

The YouthAIDS’ gala theme, “Faces of Asia”, will highlight the recent visit that YouthAIDS and Ashley Judd made to Southeast Asia, a region where HIV/AIDS is widely threatening young populations. “The 2004 YouthAIDS Gala will be a special evening where we gather individuals from all industries who share the YouthAIDS commitment of protecting young people from HIV/AIDS,” said Kate Roberts, director of YouthAIDS. “We are especially pleased to have the opportunity to share the experiences of our recent journey through Asia to help raise further awareness for a region that is severely affected by HIV/AIDS.”

De-Lovely is currently preparing to open in the UK. To promote the film, Ashley sat down for an interview entitled, Mummy's curse

After some small talk, she came right out with it: 'Um,' she said, 'I'm getting a little uptight. Because this is a British newspaper.'

And? I asked.

'And I don't trust them at all. I was really nervous about this, because we just don't trust anybody from the UK....' Full Article

Ashley graces the cover of the October issue of Glamour. The article is entitled: Ashley Judd: Style and Substance. Contains a great Q&A session with Ashley about her style, her trip to Thailand and Cambodia, and what's next on her agenda.

Sting and The Judd SISTERS Create a Memorable Evening Under the Stars Wynonna, Roach, Ashley and Dario recently went to the Sting/Annie Lennox show (on Labor Day). Upon arrival, Sting himself was waiting backstage for them to pull up. Ashley made a peanut butter cake with one slice missing ("I had to make certain it tasted ok for Sting!" she laughed). Wy also created a hand-packed (and heavy!) basket of Tennessee goodies, including her favorite incense, candles and massage oils. For kicks, she included a copy of her latest cd and a "Wynonna Rocks" ringer tee that sells at her concerts... Full Story

How to Look De-Lovely
The transition from current fashion icon to '20s high society bride for her latest flick De-Lovely is smooth and easy for retro-chic glamour queen Ashley Judd. As she travels back in time to play Linda Porter, trendsetter of the roaring '20s and wife and muse of famed songwriter Cole Porter, Judd relives old-world Hollywood elegance and romance. If you want to jazz up your nuptials with her "old is gold" look, see how hairstylist Beth Miller grooms Ashley's soft, wavy hair into closely set curls and tops it off with fresh flowers for the ultimate in sophistication... Those of you that purchased the August issue of Marie Claire will know that it is an edited version of Ashley's ad for the Step Up Women's Network. The shirt reads, "Think fashion makes a statement, try voting"(article). A Consuming cause
... Country singer Wynonna Judd was reveling in a rare day off in Beverly Hills last February when she got an unwelcome phone call from Roberts.

Roberts wanted to talk about a nonprofit organization she had created called YouthAIDS, to encourage abstinence, delayed first sexual experience, and condom use among young people. Judd's sister, actress Ashley, had already agreed to be a "youth ambassador" for the organization, and all three women had been together at a New York fundraising ball for YouthAIDS in October 2003. Roberts had gone in a loaned Armani dress and Wynonna Judd had stereotyped her as "another alpha female in a ball gown."

Roberts arrived at the hotel that February day and talked for the next four hours "with a missionary zeal" about the tragedy of AIDS and how everybody has a responsibility to help try to stop it. Judd says she laughed, and she listened and she cried, and, in the end: "She blew the doors wide open to my soul. . . . I'd kick anybody's you-know-what with one hand tied behind my back for her." read more?
