Closing Film: "De-Lovely" by Irwin Winkler. Thirteen years after having presented Guilty by Suspicion in competition, producer-director Irwin Winkler is back on the Croisette with his latest feature De-Lovely. This musical tracing the life of composer Cole Porter, played by Kevin Kline, is the closing film of the 57th Festival. We are in 1964 and Porter is dying. He is at home in his New York apartment playing a familiar and melancholic tune on his piano. A stranger appears and takes him to an empty theatre where Porter watches the highlights of his own life: his legendary successes like “Night and Day,” “It's De-Lovely,” and “In the Still of the Night;” his love for his muse, Linda Lee Porter (Ashley Judd); and his passion for handsome men.

Visit the official Festival de Cannes website for more festival information. You can view streaming media pertaining to "De-Lovely" by clicking here. I will let you know, the videos are translated from English to French, but Ashley looks fantastic so go take a peek anyway!

Also, Paramount has set a date for the DVD release of Twisted. The film will be available on August 31st. There are P&S and widescreen versions both with Dolby 5.1. Thereported extras include: Commentary/Multi-Audi, Closed Caption, Deleted Footage, Making Of, Production Notes, Trailer - List price will be $29.95

"De-Lovely," starring Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd, is the closing film Saturday night at the Cannes Film Festival, injecting a touch of old-fashioned class to the event's celebrity-circus atmosphere.

The film plays out as a song-and-dance-filled flashback as the dying Porter (Kline) is whisked to a stage rehearsal by the angel Gabriel (Jonathan Pryce), who orchestrates a re-enactment of the songwriter's life. Though he was gay, party-hearty Porter maintained an enduring relationship with wife Linda (Judd).

The "De-Lovely" soundtrack will be in stores June 15. The movie hits U.S. and Canadian theaters June 25 and will roll out to the rest of the world in the fall.

After Saturday night's Cannes screening, Kline and Judd plan to introduce Crow, Morissette and Cole performing Porter tunes at a "De-Lovely" party on the beach in the Riviera resort town.

Visit the official De-Lovely movie website for a lot of great pictures, e-cards, movie, and biographical information.

Updated gallery pics today. 4 pics from Ashley's appearance on Oprah.com last week.

Although Ned Beatty didn't make the Tony Awards cut this season despite raves for his performance as Big Daddy in a revival of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." Beatty did win a Drama Desk Awared for best featured actor in a play. Did nominators remember the catty remarks Beatty made about co-stars Ashley and Jason in a New York Times interview? All New York theater productions are eligible for the Drama Desk Awards, founded almost half a century ago as a counterweight to the Tony Awards, which celebrate only Broadway shows.

DE-LOVELY REMINDER - The film is scheduled for a showing at the Cannes International Film Festival Saturday -- a natural, since the Porters lived in France for several years.

As some of you may have noticed, Oxygen did not air a new "Oprah After the Show" on yesterday. Apparently the producers loved the Judd's segment so much, they are going to compile the footage and piece together a new regular Oprah show for June!!!

If you missed Oprah today... well, it's not my fault. I reminded you SEVERAL times!! I know there are some of you out there that *gasp* are not Wy fans, but Ashley was on the show also, so there are no excuses for those of you who missed it. I for one, think that Wynonna is awesome. I am glad to see her taking her journey public. It is inspring and admirable. Also, it was so good to see her family there supporting her. I always love to see the bond between Wy and Ashley. They are so close. Makes me wish that I had a sister.... ummm, ok, maybe I am just babbling away. Anyways, if you happened to see the show and would like to talk about it, post away!! For tapes and transcripts visit Oprah.com. And once again, if you are interested in learning more about Wynonna's experience, check out Wynonna Judd's Personal Journal.

In a 2 hour Biography Channel special: Mothers & Daughters in Hollywood takes an intimate look at the stories of celebrity mothers and their daughters that often reveal deep feelings of tenderness, pride and love. While witnessing the challenges shared while living in the public eye, viewers learn how these mothers and daughters find strength in each other and how their ability to laugh at themselves is the best antidote for the tabloids’ poisoned pens. Viewers will also discover that these Hollywood celebrities are more like their own mothers and daughters than they ever imagined.

The show traveled to Tennessee to spotlight The Judds, Wynonna and Naomi, for inclusion of the special. The girls will be featured in two segments of the show. Should be a real treat for Mothers and Daughters EVERYWHERE!

Sports Illustrated's Kentucky edition contains a piece written by Ashley Judd. In "Wild Cats Fan," she tells why Kentuckians are so enthused about UK basketball and how it unites a diverse state.

"People often ask me to try to explain why Kentuckians are so nutty about UK basketball. My guess is that it's because thecommonwealth is so diverse, from the mountains of the east, where my family hails; to the central bluegrass, where we have a proud tradition of raising the world's best thoroughbreds; to the farmlands of the west. Basketball is one thing that unites us, something for which we all can be proud. An airline pilot once told my Nana that when he flies over the state, he can tell when UK is playing because the roads are empty. "

The movie - a dying Cole's backward look at his life with his socially acceptable wife - incorporates fantasy musical numbers and facts - some brutal, some sublime - along with his exquisite and amusing songs. Kline as Porter - a hedonist, a romantic, a genius - and Ashley Judd as the regal, ravishing Linda - aware of her husband's preference, but willing to look the other way as long as he is "discreet" - turn in Oscar-worthy performances. That Linda had her own preference is only hinted at. Judd calls on aspects of herself heretofore unseen. It is as if she literally stepped out of the past; she is all sacrifice, subtlety, irony and elegance. (A change from her recent, far more aggressive, athletic roles.)
