Ashley Judd

Gov. Ernie Fletcher, appearing on the The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to defend Kentucky's honor, came out swinging.

Sort of.

After Leno's monologue, Fletcher came on stage brandishing a Kentucky-made Louisville Slugger bat. He later presented the bat to the late-night TV personality.

Fletcher's hasty trek to Los Angeles for yesterday's taping was a response to a recent wisecrack in which Leno suggested the state adopt the slogan "Kentucky: Got Teeth?"

....After Fletcher left the stage on last night's Leno show, Kentucky-born actress Ashley Judd appeared to plug her new movie. Judd made some racier suggestions for a state motto, including "Get lucky in Kentucky."

"It was a good night for Kentucky -- especially because of Ashley Judd," Fletcher admitted... Full article

---> Ashley will appear on tomorrow's Tonight Show with Jay Leno!!! Check your local listings for air times.

---> Scotland's Dario Franchitti captured the A.J. Foyt Indy 225 on Sunday, giving him his first Indy Racing League triumph since back surgery brought an early end to last season.

"This means a lot," Franchitti said. "It was brilliant coming back from having a year out to win this race. Yeah, this was really special."

Franchitti led most of the second half of the event at the Milwaukee Mile oval and held off Indianapolis 500 winner Buddy Rice over the final six laps after a restart for his first triumph since 2002.

"I was definitely concerned about him more than any of the other cars out there," Franchitti said.

Franchitti brought Andretti Green its sixth victory in nine races this season and said he made the right choice to have back surgery last year after a motorcycle accident and miss most of the season.

"It's wonderful for him after the decision he made," said actress Ashley Judd, Franchitti's wife. "He really wanted this race. He deserves it."

---> I have added another new section to the site today, crosswords! So far there are only 2 puzzles, but I will be adding more very soon.

Naomi Judd didn't want to miss watching her daughter Ashley's latest film.

"I'm Ashley Judd's mother, and Ashley would not approve of this," said the 58-year-old country singer after a projector malfunction interrupted the showing of "De-Lovely" last weekend at the Green Hills Regal Cinema. The singer's publicist said Judd made the remark to lighten the mood.

The crowd laughed and the movie later restarted.

The theater gave the filmgoers a refund.

Dario Franchitti has one. So does his wife, actress Ashley Judd. Tony Kanaan, the IndyCar Series points leader and Franchitti's teammate, also wears one.

Their yellow bracelets with the words ``LIVE STRONG'' aren't a fashion statement. They are just among the fans of cyclist Lance Armstrong in his push for an unprecedented sixth Tour de France victory and his foundation's fight against cancer.... more?

The Cole Porter musical drama "De-Lovely" just missed placing in the top 12 this weekend with an estimated gross of $1.5 million. The film, which stars Kevin Kline as Cole and Ashley Judd as his wife, Linda Lee, is doing strong business in limited release in just 185 theaters and has garnered an estimated $2.5 million to date.

While a period musical may seem like a stretch for the actress, it was the character of Linda that she instantly connected with "I had a very natural affinity with the idea of being close to someone who has a really special talent," she explains. "I grew up at the knee of greatness -- that's my sister. I married someone who has a very elite and rare gift ... The idea of Linda being with Cole and being a high-class enabler for his creativity was something I responded to." Full Article

New additions to the gallery today, 36 new pictures of Ashley from a press event for De-Lovely.

Ashley on making De-Lovely, much of which was filmed in England: ''A lot of the locations were old stately homes . . . They were really precious about where we could go and where we could not, and that made it really, really hard. I mean, I'm wearing white palazzo pants and I had to schlep across a muddy lawn to get to a toilet. I peed behind a bush for four days.'' Full Article

History's biggest epidemic is the focus of a weeklong AIDS meeting that opens Sunday, drawing thousands of experts to address the urgent task of delivering treatment to Africa while defusing emerging epidemics in Asia.

Thailand is hosting the 15th International AIDS Conference at a time when the virus is pushing deep into Asia and Eastern Europe to become a truly global disaster.

Some 20,000 people - scientists, community activists, public health specialists, government leaders, HIV patients, journalists and Hollywood celebrities like Richard Gere - were gathering in Bangkok for the meeting, held every two years to discuss the latest research and discuss policy.

Additional big names scheduled to take part this week are actors Ashley Judd and Rupert Everett, world leaders Sonia Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, singer Dionne Warwick and Miss Universe... full article

Ashley is once again on another mag cover. If you have not picked up your copy of Marie Claire go get it now! I highly reccomend it. Ashley is the guest editor in chief for the month of August. The Q & A quite informative.

Ashley Judd talks about solving the chaos in her life, what she's doing to save the environment, and the private moment that made the abortion issue personal

In other news, Ashley Judd reportedly is fuming about the new TV exposé on her family, claiming it's full of untruths and negatives about her past (this would be 'The Judds: E! True Hollywood Story'). Judd is urging fans of the family, which includes her singing sister Wynonna and mother Naomi, to turn the show off when it airs.

She says: "I disapproved of the entire thing. The train had left the station, and they were going to do it regardless of what we felt about it.

"I know some people chose to participate to direct them in an honest way. But I haven't seen it; I won't see it.

"It's as much a tabloid as the National Enquirer. I have no respect for it and what they do, and I'd like to pinch people who watch it to get them to wake up."

Hmmm? I havent seen it yet, but I do have it on tape?

Ashely Judd is currently in Cambodia to raise AIDS awareness and to launch new health products and services through her work with the YouthAIDS organization . Ashley Judd will visit Cambodia next week to raise AIDS awareness and to launch new health products and services, a U.N. program said Thursday. She will also visit Thailand and attend this month's international AIDS conference in Bangkok, according to YouthAIDS, a Washington-based group which promotes awareness of the disease. Her visit to Cambodia will include trips to clinics and schools to speak with children about the threat of catching HIV. Judd, who is YouthAIDS' Global Ambassador, will also tour the capital Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, home to the famed Angkor Wat temples.

About 350,000 people in Cambodia are infected with HIV/AIDS and the country has Southeast Asia's highest HIV infection rate, although it dropped to 2.6 per cent in 2002 from 3.8 per cent in 1997.
